📝 Event Briefing

A practical JKD Kali/Silat seminar exploring core Jeet Kune Do combat principles through the five ranges of combat, five modes of attack and four key modes of defence. We will look at how range changes the fight: weapons, kicking, punching, trapping/clinch and grappling. From there, we will work through the JKD five modes of attack: Simple Direct/Angle Attack, Attack by Combination, Progressive Indirect Attack, Hand Immobilisation Attack and Attack by Drawing. The session will also cover defensive principles such as evasion, parrying, covering, jamming and interception, with an emphasis on timing, distance, footwork and practical application. The material is rooted in Bruce Lee’s JKD framework and extended through the wider JKD, Kali and Silat teaching traditions associated with Guro Dan Inosanto and subsequent instructors.

🥋

Requirements

Please bring boxing or MMA gloves, focus pads if you have them, rattan sticks if available, comfortable training clothes and water. Training will include striking, footwork, partner drills, trapping/clinch work and light weapon-range material. No live sparring is required, but participants should be ready to train actively and safely.

Training will be adapted to the group level, but all participants are expected to work with control and respect.
